As it turned out (mostly due to the weather) today would be our biggest day in the dolimites. A 125km ride over the Passo Falzarego, through Cortina, up to lake Misurina and finally to the summit of the extraordinary Tre Cime di Laveredo. This diabollically hard climb was to be included in the Giro in 2013 but was removed due to snowfalls and road closures. Well my goodness, what a difficult ascent it is, more difficult I think than the Mortirolo, due to the lack of respite in the 6.7km between lake Misurina and the summit. Sections of 25% are common and the road shows no mercy.
